JOHN GYI

John Gyi has been putting ink into skin since 2012 — and putting paint on canvas long before that.

Born and based in Yangon, he came to tattooing as a painter and digital concept artist, and it shows: compositions built like paintings, portraits that hold their likeness for decades, black and grey that reads like charcoal on paper.

His work has travelled further than he has, earning recognition at international conventions and invitations across the region.

Every piece starts as a conversation and a drawing. Nothing is flash-picked, nothing is rushed. The goal is simple: work you'll still be proud of in thirty years.
